Ford Transit Wrap Templates: How to Choose the Right Configuration

The Ford Transit is one of the most common vans in the commercial wrap industry, and it is also the easiest to get wrong on the drawing board. "Ford Transit" is not one vehicle. It is a massive family of configurations, plus a smaller sibling—the Transit Connect—that shares the name and almost nothing else.

Pick the wrong configuration on the drawing board, and the mistakes won't surface until the print is already on the plotter.

Start with the Van, Not the File Fleet customers often say "it's a Transit" about a mixed fleet that includes two different roof heights and three different model years. Always verify the VIN or door jamb sticker before you download a template.

The Four Things That Change a Transit Layout

  1. Roof Height: Transits come in low, medium, and high roof versions. Roof height changes everything above the beltline. A logo sized for a high roof will crowd the top edge of a low roof van.

  2. Wheelbase and Length: Regular, long, or extended. Graphics that run front-to-back must be laid out for the actual length, or they will get awkwardly cropped at the tail light.

  3. Side Door Configuration: The passenger door can be a sliding door or a pair of hinged swing-out doors. On a slider, the track creates a long horizontal channel. If you place a phone number across the wrong seam, it gets cut in half every time the van is opened.

  4. Model Year and Front End: Bumper shape, headlight cutouts, and the hood line all affect how front graphics wrap and where you need bleed. Always use the exact model year.

Transit vs. Transit Connect A layout drawn on a full-size Transit will not scale down to a Connect. The windows, door handles, and side panel heights are entirely different. Do not try to stretch or shrink the file.

Stop guessing on van dimensions. Search for your specific configuration and download a precision 1:20 scale Transit blueprint from the GravBase Vector Library. Grab the free JPG for quoting, or upgrade to the $4.99 Design-Ready EPS to feed your RIP software perfectly scaled bezier curves.
